Cookie & Tracking Policy

Provider: GigPigs Pty Ltd, trading as iD Comedy, Stand Up Sydney and GigPigs, and operator of The Comedy (thecomedy.com.au) and Live Stand Up Comedy (livestandupcomedy.com).

This policy explains how we use cookies and similar technologies on our websites and apps, and how you can control them. It works alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. What are cookies and similar technologies?

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We also use similar technologies such as pixels/tags, local storage, and software development kits (SDKs) in our mobile app. We group them by purpose:

  • Essential — needed to run the Services: logging you in, keeping your session, securing the site, remembering items in a cart/checkout. These can't be switched off.
  • Preferences — remember choices like theme, language or region.
  • Analytics — help us understand how the Services are used so we can improve them.
  • Advertising / measurement — help us measure and improve advertising, including the Meta pixel and Meta's Conversions API.

2. The Meta pixel and Conversions API

We use the Meta pixel (in the browser) and the Conversions API (server-to-server) to measure how our ads perform — for example, whether an ad led to a ticket purchase — and to help show relevant ads. This may involve sharing limited event data with Meta, such as pages and shows viewed, tickets added to a cart, starting a checkout, a purchase and its value, and hashed identifiers like your email.

Where an organiser or show partner (such as the performer, promoter or venue) has connected their own Meta pixel and been given permission for that show, events for that show may also be shared with that partner's pixel so they can measure and advertise the show: browsing events on the show's pages and checkout (without your name or email), and checkout, purchase and free-ticket events (with the hashed identifiers described above). Free tickets (complimentary, or paid entirely with credit or points) are reported as a separate "free ticket" event with no value. Partners may only use this for their own advertising and measurement under Meta's terms. Opting out of marketing emails or SMS is separate from advertising pixels: checkout, purchase and free-ticket events may still be measured by pixels, including those of a show's partner or headlining artist. You can limit this through your browser or device settings and our consent tools.

Meta cookies set by our own domains. thecomedy.com.au, gigpigs.app and standupsydney.com may set these as first-party cookies, so measurement stays accurate:

  • fbp — a random browser identifier Meta uses to recognise the same browser across visits. Up to 90 days.
  • fbc — set only when you arrive from a Meta ad; records which ad click brought you. Up to 90 days.

Events are sent from our servers to Meta, so they can reach Meta even where browser-based tracking is blocked.

You can learn about and control Meta's use of this data in your Meta ad settings, and limit browser-based tracking using the controls in section 4.

3. Analytics and other providers

We may use analytics tools to understand usage (pages/screens viewed, general location, device type). These help us fix problems and improve the Services. Where required, we only load non-essential analytics after you consent.

4. Your choices

  • Consent banner: where shown, you can accept or decline non-essential cookies and change your choice later.
  • Browser controls: most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking essential cookies may break parts of the Services.
  • Device/app controls: your device settings let you limit ad tracking (e.g. iOS "Allow Apps to Request to Track", Android ad settings).
  • Marketing: you can opt out of marketing emails/SMS at any time (see the Privacy Policy).

Declining non-essential cookies won't stop you using the core Services, but some features and personalisation may not work as well.

5. Changes

We may update this policy as our tools change. We'll post the updated version with a new effective date.
